It has been a while, but a few weeks ago I found out these amazing people getting married on… you guess it… Friday the 13th!
If that’s not unique enough, they showed their style by dressing in awesome 50’s Theme.
Her pin-up attitude and tattoos, and his swish dapper Dan hairdo made the photo shoot come alive.
So awesome and so in love.
Photography Tip: if you are stuck for a location, ask the couple if they have a favourite spot. This couple wanted shots at the place where they first kissed. That added to how special the photos were.
These boys were drug out of bed early for this shoot!! Made me giggle when I arrived at their home and their mom was telling them to hurry up and finish their breakfast. They really didn’t like that Saturday morning.
Photography Tip: If you have the pre-teen to teen aged boys, it is going to be tough to get a genuine smile out of them. Just roll with the brooding look until you manage to ask them about their girlfriends. Then they kinda light up and say they don’t have one. Ha ha!
My family and I were at a beach on Harper’s Creek in Caldwell County. We met a family there and they had left their camera. Me having my trusty camera always snapped away as the day wore on. We exchanged emails and we went on our way.
Such a nice family and this little boy was NOT afraid of water!! Whats so ever! He would just push his head down under the water and come up not missing a beat. One instance he never let go of a rock when he surfaced. He loved swimming around with his daddy. And loved wearing his hat in the sun.
I’m just so glad I always drag my camera out and about!!
Photographer tip: always bring along a camera. Whether cell phone or point and shoot or dare I say it… your dslr!! You never know when you will catch a raelre opportunity or just be there when someone forgot a camera. Click click! Cheese!!
This little girl was in a rush! As I mentioned earlier she and her mom, Brandi, were strolling along with me doing a maternity session!!
And when I say earlier I mean the same day! This little darling was so excited to have her picture taken she popped out only 3 hours after her mom was done with her session.
I am so glad they called me as soon as she was born. I rushed to the hospital and took pictures. It was really awesome that maternity and newborn were shot on the same day… by the same photographer.
Photographer tip: when your preggo session starts panting and cramping while walking for the shoot, be prepared to go to your nearest hospital! You might get an awesome opportunity like this. 🙂
I often find funny but true pictures like this one. It isn’t just about the hour or so taking the picture. It IS a business… and I have to have a business licence and insurance. And a lot more costs to add to the business aspect of it. I would say this photo (I do not know who made it originally) is accurate in the actual work that is done outside of the “session” I have many many requests for my prices and every time I never hear from them again. Sure it hurts a little, but I can’t sell myself short just to please those wanting “cheap portraits” I pride myself in the few clients I have had the pleasure to serve. I do love what I do, and as the poster says…. “that love won’t pay the bills” Photographer tip: never ever sell yourself short or lower prices just to please some people. If you truely and honestly want a legitimate business then you need to take the time to figure out how much it cost to run said business. There are plenty of resources and free help on forums. I even think the small business bureau (in America) has free video classes. As always, Ashley
Brandi was in so much pain, but you can’t tell she is having contractions. We managed to.get a few great shots and I told her to.go home and rest…
… three hours later she (her dad actually) called and said she had the baby!!!!!!
Isn’t that amazing? Maternity and newborn photos on the same day!!! Newborn shots to follow later.
Photography tip: using the flash outside will help light up the harsh shadows.
Another throw back to last year. Last fall I had the most amazing shoot with Katherine. Her belly is so big and round it looks like its about to POP!!
She’s a beautiful lady with a now a 6 month beautiful healthy baby girl, Trinity. Awww These are the memories that I adore. Photography tip: don’t be afraid to ask the preggo lady to sit on the ground. She may need help back up, but I hear they are not fragile just because they are incubating a human inside them. Have fun on your next photography adventure and remember to make them laugh. As Always, Ashley
Here they are… smiling and soooo happy. I am relieved that they were my first couple session. They laughed and talked about anything and everything.
Aren’t they just super awesome and happy? I don’t think one time they stopped talking or cracking jokes. And Christie just blew me away with her care free attitude. They didn’t hesitate a bit when I asked for poses.
Photography tip: don’t be afraid to stand on brick walls to get a different angle. Changing perspective really gives the photo something interesting.
Congratulations to all you newly weds out there and all you newly engaged!
My pride and joy. Esme is my world and one of the reason I strive to be better at what I do. She is here with my mom. I also did a mini session for my mom.
This is the phase I love of the year. The yellow and gold leaves making such a beautiful photo for portraits. The cherry blossom tree gives a great place to rest and sit. We placed Esme on the branch to give her some height.
Here’s to your photography travels and family days out.
Krista and her beautiful daughter Carly. Family photos are so fun and can be a breeze if they are more interactive and not paying attention to the camera.
Pretty matching white dresses are so great for photos. If you want great family photos, wear solid colours and in tones that match. It makes the focus on the people more prominent.
